How To Make Hario Syphon Coffee

Ingredients:

  • 17 g bean coffee for one person.
  • Purifier or bottled water.
  • One electric kettle.
  • One Hario Syphon TCA-2 and alcohol burner.
  • 1 teaspoon or bamboo spatula.
  • Stopwatch.
  • One mug.

Preparation:

  • Grind bean coffee on the filter coffee setting.
  • After keeping the cloth filter in warm water for 5 minutes in order to get rid of any foreign odor, place the filter on the top of the Siphon and attach the metal hook to the mouth of the thin tube. After pouring the ground coffee into the upper part, turn the lid of the Syhpon upside down and put the upper part to wait.
  • Fill the bottom of the siphon with 120 g of hot water for 17 g of coffee.
  • After placing the upper part of the syphon in the lower part, place the entire system on the alcohol burner. Turn on the stove.
  • The hot water below will start to fill upwards after a while. During the rise, start wetting the coffee by pressing it slowly with a spatula or spoon, without stirring it completely. This step is important in terms of revealing the coffee aroma.
  • Stir the coffee completely with a spoon or spatula 1.5 minutes after the coffee rises. Move the siphon away from the fire source, waiting another 30 seconds. Keep the coffee on fire for a total of 2 minutes.
  • The brewed coffee will begin to flow downward. The coffee will complete its flow by forming bubbles in the final stage. After that, you can serve your coffee by removing the upper part.
